April 2 marks National Service Recognition Day — the day when thousands of local leaders across the country honor AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers in a variety of great ways — participating in recognition events, issuing official proclamations and taking to social media in a nationwide show of appreciation. This annual initiative always takes place the first Tuesday in April, and is led by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the National League of Cities, the National Association of Counties, and Cities of Service.
As a show of appreciation for your service, local Minnesota leaders have planned special recognition events to celebrate AmeriCorps members’ dedication to getting things done. All AmeriCorps and Senior Corps members and alum who serve or have served in the following cities are invited to attend (and stay tuned for a special social media message from Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey!):
April 7th: 1 – 2 p.m. – Mayor’s Reception Room, City Hall, 411 West First Street
Celebrate both National Service Recognition Day and National Volunteer Week (April 7 – 13) with Mayor Emily Larson. Mayor Larson will honor those amazing contributions by members and alum who made a difference for the city of Duluth.
