True North AmeriCorps members support skills for on-time graduation, ensuring all youth are prepared for success in school, home, and life.

The Y’s True North AmeriCorps program is dedicated to enhancing school-age students’ social emotional learning (SEL) skills through enrichment programming and individualized support. Members are trained in SEL assessments and skill building as well as youth program quality best practices to facilitate activities, infuse SEL into daily offerings and seek out “real life teachable moments.”

Essential qualifications for serving in the program:

  • Interest in working with school-age youth
  • Ability to communicate with people of different backgrounds
  • Basic computer skills including email and word processing
  • Commitment to the entire service term
