Mohamed Omar

As Chief Operating Officer, Mohamed Omar leads ServeMinnesota’s technological, operational, and financial infrastructure. Mohamed brings deep experience across private, public, and nonprofit sectors to ServeMinnesota’s senior leadership team. He’s worked as a senior financial executive with organizations across MN, including the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund and the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities. Directly prior to joining ServeMinnesota, he was the chief administrative officer and chief of staff at Washburn Center For Children.

Omar began his career in accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers before expanding his expertise in strategy and operations as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and as a management consultant at Guidehouse and MorganFranklin. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs Policy Fellows Program. He holds a Master of Science in information systems as well as an MBA in finance and entrepreneurship from Johns Hopkins University, in addition to a BA from George Mason University.

In addition to his work at ServeMinnesota, Mohamed contributes his expertise to three nonprofit boards. He chairs the board for Hennepin Healthcare and is the first Somali American to lead a hospital board in Minnesota. He is also vice president of the board for WellShare International and treasurer for CommonBond Communities.
